About Grateful Soul Movement

Grateful Soul Movement (GSM) is both a personal practice and a community movement rooted in gratitude, mindful movement, and human connection.

Founded by Niki Allen, GSM was created as a gentle reminder to honour the body for what it can do today, not what it should do. While movement is a key doorway — through yoga, breath, and embodied awareness — GSM extends far beyond the physical body. It is about how we show up for ourselves and for one another.

Research and lived experience show that gratitude can positively impact our nervous system, mental health, and overall wellbeing. When practiced daily and shared collectively, gratitude becomes a powerful catalyst for change.

GSM offers a space for imperfect humans to move mindfully, practice gratitude regularly, and reconnect with their innate wisdom — together. This is movement with meaning, designed to foster presence, compassion, and a more connected way of living.

My Practice

Grateful Soul Movement was created as both a personal practice and a collective movement. While mindful body movement is a core doorway, GSM is ultimately about creating connection — to the body, to gratitude, and to one another. I chose movement because it helps regulate the nervous system, bring us into presence, and reconnect us with our innate wisdom. Rooted in yoga, breath, energy work, and daily gratitude, GSM invites people to move with appreciation rather than pressure. Gratitude is proven to shift our state, our mindset, and our biology — and when practiced together, it becomes a powerful force for change. This is movement with meaning, designed to inspire a more human, connected way of living.

My Journey

Grateful Soul Movement began as a personal reminder to return to gratitude — especially during times when I fell away from daily practice. I’ve struggled, reset, and begun again more times than I can count. Movement became my anchor, not just as exercise, but as a way to come home to my body and nervous system. Over time, I realised this wasn’t meant to be a solo path. GSM evolved into a community movement — a space where imperfect humans could come together, support one another, and remember that gratitude is something we practice collectively. Healing, I’ve learned, happens faster and deeper when we don’t do it alone.

My Beliefs

I believe Grateful Soul Movement is about shifting how we live — together. I believe mindful movement, gratitude, and human connection are essential in a world that moves too fast and feels increasingly disconnected. GSM is built on the belief that gratitude changes our nervous system, our relationships, and our communities. When individuals practice gratitude daily and then come together in shared spaces, real transformation happens. This is not about fixing ourselves — it’s about remembering our humanity, supporting one another, and creating a ripple effect of presence, compassion, and conscious living.


Why I Practice Gratitude

Gratitude is more than a feeling — it is a practice that gently reshapes the brain, calms the nervous system, and opens the heart. Neuroscience shows that consistent gratitude practices can support emotional regulation, reduce stress responses, and strengthen neural pathways associated with wellbeing and connection. From an energetic perspective, gratitude shifts our internal state — changing how we perceive the world and how we move through it. What we thank, we soften toward. What we soften toward, we begin to heal.

I practice gratitude because I have felt its impact not only emotionally, but physically and energetically. In moments of stress, disconnection, or overwhelm, gratitude has acted as a signal of safety to my body — a quiet return to presence. It brings me out of survival mode and into awareness, where breath deepens, the body settles, and intuition becomes easier to access. Gratitude doesn’t erase life’s challenges, but it changes the frequency from which we meet them.

Within the Grateful Soul Community, gratitude is practiced both individually and collectively. Through mindful movement, breath, shared reflection, and intentional gathering, we create coherence — within our nervous systems and within the group field itself. Science tells us that regulated nervous systems support one another; mystically, we might say that energy harmonises when people gather with intention. Together, we create a space where slowing down becomes sacred and presence becomes medicine.

It is a grounded, embodied practice of noticing — the breath that carries you, the body that supports you, the subtle moments that remind you that you belong. When practiced daily and shared in community, gratitude becomes a quiet revolution — shifting not only our inner world, but the collective one.
